Couple to donate honeymoon money to storm reliefTarah Turley and Bill Tylle exchange vows in a “flash wedding” Friday on the historic Redings Mill Bridge. (Photo By Emily Younker/The Joplin, Mo., Globe) CNHI News Service JOPLIN, Mo. — Bill Tylle and Tarah Turley won’t be taking a romantic honeymoon. Instead, the newlyweds are donating money set aside for a getaway to the Joplin tornado relief effort. “That money could go to a lot better use right now,” she said. The couple had planned a traditional wedding, but that all changed when the May 22 tornado hit. “We didn’t feel like it was the right time to do it,” he said, noting that so many Joplin residents had lost everything. “It was just terrible.” Still wanting to get married but not wait until later in the year, they planned a “flash wedding.” Friends were notified by e-mail last Friday morning to an informal wedding at the Redings Mill bridge later that day. “I liked it,” Turley said moments after the ceremony. “It was much less stressful. We didn’t even have enough time to sit around and sweat it.” --- |
