Police seek killer of 20 cats in MarylandCNHI News Service CUMBERLAND, Md. — A cat killer has struck this western Maryland community again. A five-year-old feline found poisoned in the city park is the 20th victim this fall. “There is no reasonable explanation for why he (Bouncer) was killed,” said Kristen Bender, the cat's owner, in a letter to the Cumberland Times-News. “My family is trying to make sense of such a senseless act.” Dick DeVore, the local emergency management chief, said the most recent death is related to other cats that also were poisoned. DeVore said the poison caused an excruciating death for the cats. He said the person or persons responsible will be prosecuted when they are caught. “From what I understand, it was a very painful and miserable way for him to die,” Bender said of her cat, Bouncer. --- |
